Ellen R. Solomons studied at the University of Georgia, the University of Connecticut and Massachusetts College of Art.
She began her career in art as an apprentice to the famous illustrator, David Stone Martin. She relates that it was near the end of his life and, "He really gave me the foundation of basic Illustration, line and form."
In the ensuing years she pursued sculpting, design, off loom bead weaving, doll making and jewelry fabrication. Combining her successful ventures in these mediums Ellen has created her own unique style. The combination of lyrical designs and strong colors makes Solomons' work captivating.
Ellen's art form lends itself to the classroom. Her classes are always full with new and returning students. She teaches at jewelry schools and bead shops throughout Florida.
Solomons, whose work is signed "E Rachel", has been published by Lark Books, "500 Handmade Dolls", Beadwork Magazine, Beadwork 2011 Calendar, and Bead and Button Magazine.
Ellen has won 1st Place and two 2nd Place ribbons at Bead and Button Magazine’s Bead Dreams contest, Beaded Objects category. She has won Best in Show at Beadwork Magazine’s contest “The Beaded Book”.
Ellen works out of her studio in Sarasota, Florida.
