Ellen Solomons studied at the University of Georgia, the University of Connecticut and the Massachusetts College of Art.

She began her career in art as an apprentice to the famous illustrator, David Stone Martin. She relates, "He really gave me the foundation of basic illustration, line and form."

In the ensuing years she pursued sculpting, design, off loom bead weaving, doll making and jewelry fabrication. Combining her successful ventures in these mediums Ellen has created her own unique style. The combination of lyrical designs and strong colors makes Solomons' work captivating

Ellen's art form lends itself to the classroom. Her classes are always full with new and returning students. And although she is based in Sarasota, Florida, she teaches at jewelry schools, bead shops and Bead Societies. She teaches at the Bead and Button Bead Show and Bead Fest.

Solomons, whose work is signed "E.Rachel", has been published by Lark Books, "Five Hundred Dolls", Beadwork Magazine, Beadwork 2011 Calendar, and Bead and Button Magazine. Her work was also published in a five page article in Art Dolls Quarterly.

She won Best in Show in Beadwork's " The Beaded Book", First Place and 3 Blue Ribbons at Bead and Button's Bead Dreams Contest.
